Welcome to this week’s edition of Unemployable!
It’s Claire here 🙂 and in case you missed last week’s update, I’ll be holding down the fort while Brian explores Europe for his 50th birthday. If you want to keep up to date with his travels, he’s posting some shots of his trip over on his Instagram
It probably goes without saying that I’ve learned a ton from Brian over the years.
His words were my first introduction to content marketing, and his smart and intuitive business advice has helped me make some remarkable leaps in my career. Some that I would have never thought were possible.
However, his advice hasn’t always been so easy to swallow. In fact, when I first discovered Copyblogger, it was surprisingly soul-crushing.
I had a fledgling business at the time, and the one thing Brian and company made abundantly clear was that I knew nothing about how to sell things online. The more I learned about content marketing, the more it highlighted all the mistakes and terrible decisions I had already made. It sucked.
Copyblogger made me want to quit my first business. And so I did. But only so I could start again with their guidance.
Today, I want to share with you the ebook that helped me find my online business groove. It’s called Internet Marketing for Smart People, and you can get it from Copybloggers free content library.
It was my lifeline at a time when I felt defeated, stuck and uncertain about my next move, so if you’re feeling anything like that, I suggest you give it a read.
To supercharge those thoughts on content marketing, I also wanted to share this episode of Unemployable with you, How to Cultivate Authentic Expertise, with Jordan Harbinger of The Art of Charm.
Brian and Jordan discuss the benefits of using your unique expertise to build authenticity into your content marketing strategy. Incidentally, one of the stories Jordan shares reminds me of one of my favorite business quotes from Derek Sivers:
I believe you shouldn’t start a business unless people are asking you to.
You’ll have to check out the podcast to find out why.
That’s it from me, but don’t forget to check out the ebook and this week’s resources. Happy learning!
And as always, keep going –
