If you can’t describe what you are doing as a process, you don’t know what you’re doing. – W. Edwards Deming
A system is a simple method for getting something done.
Whether it helps you conserve energy, save time, or complete a specific task it works in your favour to simplify your life.
Some typical examples of everyday systems are;
- Recipes – to help you cook a tasty dish
- Checklists – to help you complete a specific task
- Alarm clocks – to help you wake up; and
- Calendar alerts – to help you remember something
These simple systems help you function more efficiently on a day-to-day basis. And in the same way, if you create smarter systems inside your business, you will be able to operate more efficiently as a company of one.
When it comes to hustling, “systems doesn’t mean fancy IT software or expensive network servers; it simply refers to all the procedures that allow you to serve customers or otherwise make money. – Chris Guillebeau
When you document your most critical workflows, you reduce the time spent on repeatable tasks and create a structure in your business for managing multiple projects with ease. And by building automation into your operation, you can avoid wasting energy on tedious, trivial tasks and free up your time for the more creative and valuable work that you enjoy.
This week I’m sharing some awesome (and highly actionable) resources that will show you how to create and leverage smarter systems and use them to grow your business and optimise your life.
