Robuilt Host Camp Review: Rob Abasolo, Scout Pricing, And Who This Isn’t

Rob Abasolo, founder of Host Camp, at one of his glamping properties

Rob Abasolo, founder of Host Camp, at one of his glamping properties

Rob Abasolo is the type of dude who’ll buy a motel in Upstate New York, slap pickleball on a Scottsdale rental, and somehow make unique-stay Airbnb content feel like a personality.

Meanwhile I can barely keep a succulent alive, and DoorDash still thinks I live at my old apartment.

Also? If you Googled “high performance host reviews” and landed here… wrong guy.

That’s Calvin Tran. Different human. Different product. Different entire religion of rental arbitrage.

Keep reading for my Robuilt Host Camp review.

Not the same Airbnb coach: Robuilt / Host Camp = Rob Abasolo (+ Kai Andrew) — unique stays, land/destination STRs, Scout/Camper + Destination coaching. High Performance Host = Calvin Tran (rental arbitrage). Alpha Host Academy = Sara & Tony Robinson. Reevyew’s live /host/ page is Zero To Host Challenge — Rob’s competitor page is reevyew.com/robuilt/.

Okay. Google’s “Airbnb coaching” neighborhood is a traffic pileup. Let’s unpile it.

Who even is Rob Abasolo?

Public brand: Robuilt. YouTube/IG @robuilt. Former ad-agency copywriter for ~10 years. Official bios: first Airbnb out of a small LA apartment, then a house-hack path into a self-reported portfolio of ~40+ STR units. Unique stays. Glamping. Tiny-home energy. Amenity plays.

Treat the unit count as operator storytelling, not audited filings. I didn’t count the pillows.

He’s a former BiggerPockets podcast co-host. The show’s “5M+ monthly downloads” claim is a show metric, not Rob’s personal download count. People mash that on purpose. Don’t you.

Host Camp positions him as Founder & CEO. Related brands: Funkit Interiors (STR design) and STR Cost Seg (tax-angle / sponsor-adjacent). Co-founder / coach Kai Andrew — MBA, construction-engineering background, land-hacking / shipping-container / destination builds. His own YouTube too. Private coaching marketing also names Cam and Lindsey. The “4-on-1” stack.

YouTube: official pages say 290,000+ Robuilt subscribers. Some third-party trackers cite higher. Numbers conflict. Verify live. Community scale is similarly fuzzy: 3,000+ hosts on one page, 4,000+ students on another. Self-reported. Inconsistent. Useful as “not three guys in a Discord.” Useless as a census.

No CPA theater. Credibility = operator content + portfolio clips + BiggerPockets residue. That’s a real lane. It’s also a funnel.

But anyways, enough judging the pickleball. You’re here to find out whether Host Camp is worth the dues.

What Host Camp actually sells

Not one SKU. The live 2026 ladder (official sites fetched 2026-08-12):

  • Host Camp Scout — community + course library. Funnel at hc.hostcamp.com
  • Camper Membership — annual tier. Host Roundup, course library, STR Concierge
  • STR Coaching / “Destination Method” — private. Discovery-call only. Price in a vault.
  • Topic bootcamps (Comping Camp, Land Camp, Creative Camp) — promo-priced cohorts

Library names that show up: Host Camp Masterclass. Landhacker 2.0 (Kai). Glamp Camp. Creative Finance Tapes. AirDNA analysis. Direct Booking Bible. STR Tax Loophole Supercourse. Other People’s Property Blueprint (arbitrage series).

Yes. An ownership-heavy brand still markets an arbitrage module. That does not make this High Performance Host. Calvin’s whole product is rental-arbitrage coaching. Rob’s gravity is buy / build / unique design. Different sport. Same SERP costume.

Destination Method marketing: 7-phase playbook (buy box → comps → guest avatar → underwriting → experience design → phased launch → automate). Weekly coach access. Expert focus hours. Lifetime builder community claim. Older third-party writeups described a ~3-month accelerator. Treat that as historical packaging. Public ladder today is Scout / Camper / call-only Destination coaching.

What’s inside Scout and Camper (the public version)

Scout marketing (after the $1 week): monthly group coaching / community huddle with Rob. A marketed monthly 15-minute 1-on-1 bonus — confirm that still ships, because bonuses have a way of becoming folklore. Monthly market report / investor-ready properties, per the funnel. Course library. Private host forum. Scout page has said “400+ active members” while other pages shout 3k–4k students. Alumni vs active vs “we counted a guy who watched a free video once.” You get the idea.

Camper ($997/yr) piles on a monthly Host Roundup with Rob (they slap a $997 value on that, because of course they do), Airbnb fundamentals + advanced courses (claimed $1,497 value), STR Concierge “Milo” for realtor/lender/automation/cost-seg pointers (claimed $797), tool discounts, Host Huddles, Avengers Hotsheet, Student Swipes, Camp Games, Heart My Listing, a Host Camp app. Bonuses: cohort preferred pricing, affiliate opps, monthly contests.

Value stacking like a hoodie on a Disney adult. Fine. Just remember the refund policy is still “NON-REFUNDABLE & FINAL.” The fun names do not make it Costco.

Scout FAQ says cancel via Circle settings. Cancel anytime = stop the subscription. It is not a money-back guarantee on amounts already paid. I will keep saying that until it sticks.

Pricing: the public ladder vs the call

Price stamp: official public pages fetched 2026-08-12. I’m not inventing a private-coaching sticker so I can win at blogging.

  • Scout: $1 for 7 days, then $127/month. Marketing says cancel anytime. That’s a subscription stop. Not a money-back hug on months you already paid.
  • Camper: $997/year (strikethrough $5,279 on the Camper page, because of course it is)
  • Destination Method / private coaching: not publicly listed. Discovery call. Calendly energy.
  • Historical / third-party: AchieveSuccessFromHome-style reviews cited $5,000–$9,000 revealed on sales calls for older accelerator framing. Label as third-party / older. May not match 2026 Scout/Camper. Ask on the call if you’re shopping the top shelf.

Official refund stance is spicy. Membership content / coaching is framed as “NON-REFUNDABLE & FINAL” with chargeback-waiver language on hostcamp.com/refund-policy (updated 2024-11-27).

Cancel-anytime Scout marketing ≠ refund. Read that twice before you romanticize a $1 trial like it’s a Costco sample.

Got it? Good.

Claims vs reality

Marketing will say Host Camp is among the largest STR education platforms. Tens of thousands of listings launched. Thousands of campers. Some of that may be directionally true. None of it is an audited outcome study. Aggregate profitability percentages are not published.

He doesn’t say. What that actually means, nobody knows.

The bigger reality check isn’t the YouTube sub count. It’s the capital barrier. Ownership-leaning lessons (buy, build, furnish, land-hack) typically need serious money beyond tuition. Competitor framing often cites order-of-magnitude $50k–$300k+ for buy/furnish paths. Not a Host Camp official quote. Useful realism check. A $127 membership does not print a tiny home. I wish. I’d have a glamping dome in the parking lot of my complex.

Hospitality ops are the job: deals, contractors, cleaners, guest messages, HOA/zoning. If you hate that, no Masterclass fixes your personality.

Trustpilot for hostcamp.com sat around ~4.6/5 from ~21 reviews in the 2026-08 pass. Small sample. A competitor page claiming “no Trustpilot listing” was wrong. Don’t copy that error. I’ve seen dumber, but still.

Owned testimonials are selection-biased. Praise themes: Comp/Land Camp classes feel informative. Community helps dodge expensive ops mistakes. Value skews toward live calls + peers. Rob often framed as relatively non-gatekeeping. Caution themes: aggressive no-refund + chargeback-waiver terms. Price opacity on private mentorship. Capital intensity. Thin independent forum debate.

No FTC enforcement or major lawsuit against Rob Abasolo / Host Camp confirmed in this research pass. Controversies = standard STR-education stuff, not a federal lighting package.

Who this is for (and who should bounce)

This is for you if:

  • You’ve got (or you’re raising) capital to buy/build STRs or land-hack destination properties
  • You want unique-stay / design-forward strategy, not only cookie-cutter apartments
  • You value community + monthly Rob/Kai access more than daily live-coach volume
  • You’re intermediate and you actually need underwriting / creative finance / land strategy

Skip if:

  • You’re a broke beginner expecting $0 Airbnb passive income from a $127 membership. Bro.
  • You need a soft refund on high-ticket coaching. Their policy is the opposite of a hug.
  • You meant High Performance Host (Calvin Tran) or Alpha Host Academy (Sara & Tony Robinson)
  • You hate hospitality ops, contractors, or local STR regulation
  • Your real goal is local lead-gen / rank-and-rent websites. Wrong aisle. Different sport.

Robuilt / Host Camp lane Unemployable
Model STR / Airbnb ops education — buy, build, furnish, list, automate unique stays Local SEO / rank-and-rent lead-gen websites
How you get paid Guest nights, ADR, portfolio cashflow (after capital + ops) Monthly rent from local service businesses for organic leads
Daily work Deals, contractors, cleaners, guest ops, zoning/HOA Niche sites, content/SEO, client lead handoff
Capital / risk vibe Tuition + often five–six figures of real-estate capital; hospitality + regulation risk $2,980 lifetime program pricing shown up front; digital-asset risk profile
Best if you want… Destination STR ownership with community coaching Online income without furniture, guest messages, or six-figure down payments

Verdict?

Rob Abasolo’s Host Camp is a real STR-education brand. Public membership ladder you can screenshot (Scout $1 → $127/mo; Camper $997/yr as of 2026-08-12). Strong unique-stay content engine. Kai’s land-hacking lane is the differentiator vs apartment-arbitrage coaches. Hard refund terms. Private Destination Method coaching stays call-priced. Keep historical $5–9k third-party figures labeled until you hear a live number.

Worth it for capitalized operators who want community + ownership/destination playbooks. Expensive homework — and the wrong tool entirely — if you expected Calvin Tran, the Robinsons, a soft trial of high-ticket mentorship, or “passive income” without hospitality.

Not a scam per se. I see no reason to think it is. Homeboy oversells scale metrics a bit, hides the top-tier price, and the no-refund teeth are real. That’s a different zip code than “wire your rent to a Telegram admin.”

If you already own property (or you’re raising capital for destination STRs), Host Camp is the more relevant niche. Review it on its own merits. Ignore my goblin CTA.

I’m good.

Q&A

Q: Is Host Camp / Robuilt legit?
A: Real operator, real YouTube, real public prices, small Trustpilot sample that’s mostly fine. “Join Scout and a tiny home appears”? Lol. No.

Q: Is this High Performance Host?
A: No. High Performance Host is Calvin Tran — high-ticket rental arbitrage coaching. Host Camp is Rob Abasolo + Kai Andrew, unique stays / land / destination STRs. If you typed the wrong brand into Google, you’re welcome. Now go to the right page.

Q: What about Alpha Host Academy?
A: Also no. That’s Sara & Tony Robinson. Buy-and-operate STR mentorship. Different people. Different product. Same SERP swamp.

Q: How much is Host Camp Scout?
A: Official Aug 12, 2026 fetch: $1 for 7 days, then $127/month. Cancel-anytime marketing is about stopping future charges, not unwinding paid months.

Q: Camper vs Scout?
A: Camper is the $997/year tier (strikethrough $5,279 on their page). Host Roundup, course library, STR Concierge. Whether they stack, replace, or upsell each other is not crystal-clear on the public pages. Ask before you double-pay like a champ.

Q: Can I get a refund?
A: Official policy: membership payments framed non-refundable & final, plus chargeback-waiver language. Updated Nov 27, 2024. I’m not your lawyer. I am the person telling you to read it before the $1 trial rolls.

Q: Is Host Camp a scam?
A: No FTC hammer, no major lawsuit found this pass. Aggressive refund terms + capital mismatch risk + opaque high-ticket. “Oversells / not for broke beginners” ≠ proven grift.

Q: What’s Rob Abasolo’s net worth?
A: I don’t even know what I spent on DoorDash last week. You think I’m tracking the NW of a YouTuber with 40+ self-reported units? Please. Anybody quoting a clean number is LARPing.

Q: Who shouldn’t bother?
A: $0-start hunters. Refund romantics. People who meant Calvin or the Robinsons. Anyone whose “Airbnb plan” is a $127 membership and a Pinterest board.

Q: Okay but I still wanna make money online without furniture, zoning fights, or 2 a.m. guest texts.
A: Wild concept: build little local websites, rank them in Google, and rent the leads to real businesses. No pickleball retrofit. No cleaner drama. No six-figure down payment.

It’s about as sexy as organizing your sock drawer… which is why filthy SEO goblins like me keep doing it.
