In this week’s episode we’re talking about productizing, which means taking a service and making it as standardized as possible so it can be sold and scaled like a product.
As a starting point, I wanted to share a case study of what I consider a classic example of what most people think of when it comes to productized services.
So I hit up my friend John Doherty to chat with us about his new venture Editor Ninja. This productized service takes what would otherwise be an individual freelance function (editing) and packages it up for content creators – while also making it scalable by bringing in outside editorial talent on a contract basis to do the work.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be talking about other ways to productize your services. Ways that you can do as a solo business person or with a partner to quickly shift from custom client services to a more scalable model – without a ton of complexity. Subscribe to The Playbook to make sure you don’t miss that.
But for now, let’s make sure we understand the fundamentals of productized services with a case study on Editor Ninja.
