Glen Allsopp is the type of dude who’ll get acquired by Ahrefs… and still treat a current photo of himself like it’s classified.
I’m not kidding. The man built ViperChill, Detailed, Gaps, an SEO course people actually argue about on substance — and he still gives off “please no recent selfies” energy. Meanwhile my author photo looks like a LinkedIn hostage situation. The contrast is violent.
Am I right?
But anyways, enough judging. You’re here because somebody whispered “Superpixels” like it’s a secret society, Ahrefs bought Detailed.com in September 2025, and now you wanna know if SEO Blueprint is still worth the waitlist theater.
Keep reading for my Glen Allsopp / SEO Blueprint review.
Okay. There’s a lot of era confusion to unpack — ViperChill kid, Detailed grown-up, Ahrefs employee — and they are not the same costume.
Who even is Glen Allsopp?
UK-born SEO operator. Started writing about search at 15–16. Co-founded MyDJSpace (“MySpace for DJs”), 10,000+ users, got a shout-out in DJ’ing for Dummies. Ran a bedroom “agency” that supposedly got zero contact-form clients for 18 months. Dropped out at 17, moved Newcastle → Cape Town to work agency-side (Nissan, Land Rover, HP named). Sold PluginID around age 20 for a mid five-figure fee. Built OptinSkin (WordPress opt-in plugin) into multiple six figures. Claims a 7-figure agency revenue year by 25.
That’s the About-page movie trailer. Treat it as self-reported marketing biography, not audited tax returns. Colorful. Useful. Not a 10-K you can hug.
What is independently newsworthy: September 2025, Search Engine Journal reported Ahrefs acquired Detailed.com and the Detailed SEO Extension, with Allsopp joining Ahrefs on marketing, research, and product. SEJ cited ~970,000 unique visitors to Detailed in the prior 12 months. Allsopp’s own acquisition post put the free Chrome extension at 450,000+ weekly users (~7,000 on Firefox). Deal terms: not disclosed. He told SEJ Ahrefs is tools/data he’s used for years, so joining the team is “really exciting.” Corporate-exciting. We’ll allow it.
Consulting clients he claims: Ahrefs, Kinsta, Buffer, ConvertKit, plus vague “multi-billion dollar brands.” Newsletter readers supposedly include marketers at Amazon, Google, Cisco, IBM. Claimed. Not independently verified here. The Ahrefs check is the hard external signal that modern Detailed is taken seriously inside the SEO-tool ecosystem.
Other properties: ViperChill (legacy IM blog, handle @ViperChill), Detailed.com (research blog + free extension + newsletter, launched ~2020 per SEJ), Gaps.com (startup revenue / “gaps in the market” media), SEO Blueprint at seoblueprint.com (the paid thing).
One historical asterisk before you romanticize the hoodie: November 2014, CollegeTimes published “How ViperChill Lost All Credibility,” alleging messy affiliate promotion around Alex Becker / Source Phoenix / PBN-adjacent products, comment deletion, overplayed press logos. Charles Floate pushed back that the reputation hit was overstated and Marketing Inc still had value. Polarized mid-2010s Warrior Forum lore vs. a 2020s Detailed rebuild that ended in an Ahrefs deal. Different eras. Don’t mash them into one guy with one halo.

What he actually sells
Main paid product: SEO Blueprint. Lineage runs SEO Blueprint → SEO Blueprint 2 / Superpixels (Allsopp: Superpixels in 2021; program initially launched 2019) → SEO Blueprint 3 (waiting-list / scarce enrollment; existing members promised free upgrades per Detailed’s Q2 notes).
Headline claims from the sales side:
- Cutting-edge SEO tactics that are “actually ranking websites”
- Superpixels as a playbook to beat Digital Goliaths in Google
- Unique tactics not covered in beginner courses
- Lifetime updates, private community, zero upsells (claimed)
- Agency claim of helping clients acquire millions of extra Google visitors in a 12-month stretch (sales claim — not independently verified here)
Enrollment runs on scarcity: doors typically open roughly 1–2 weeks per year (sometimes stretched a bit). No Black Friday fire sale. Waitlist for “best price” is the ritual. When doors are closed, live pricing often isn’t even shown.
That’s either premium positioning or manufactured FOMO. You decide which word makes you less itchy.
He also ships free stuff that actually… ships. Detailed SEO Extension. Detailed newsletter (~2 emails/month historically). Gaps.com income-report content. Historic ViperChill-era training (Marketing Inc / Marketing Inc 2.0) is biography, not the current checkout.
Site tagline energy includes tracking rankings/revenue of 3,078 “digital goliaths.” Extension remains free under “Detailed, an Ahrefs brand.”
What’s inside (Blueprint 2 is the one we can actually document)
Public Blueprint 3 module lists are thinner than Blueprint 2 archives. So for “what’s in the box,” we’re leaning on Lifetimo deal archives, systeme.io’s review, and related breakdowns of the Blueprint 2 / Superpixels packaging:
- ~25–27+ hours of training
- 100+ private HD videos
- ~154–175 step-by-step lessons (counts vary by version/source — annoying if you need a precise syllabus PDF before buying)
- 7 blueprints + 1 playbook: on-site/technical, link building, keyword research, “Super Content,” local SEO (guest experts; one framed as from a WeWork-acquired company), experts blueprint, live website audits (“watch me audit twenty different websites” per Lifetimo), and the Superpixels playbook
- Private community / Facebook discussion volume in older snapshots (1,000+ lesson comments; 500+ FB discussions — dated)
- Custom tooling talk: custom crawler, outreach segmentation, Zapier linkerati workflows, reverse-HARO angles, “ghost page SEO,” expired-domain methods
If you’ve never heard of link building, sit this one out. Glen’s own positioning says it’s not for absolute beginners. Believe him. That’s the rare honest part.
SEO Blueprint 3 is pitched as Digital Goliaths research turned into tactics, free for existing members. Exact hour counts and module names for v3 were not fully documented in our sources. If you’re buying after the Ahrefs deal, confirm continuity and dashboard access before you wire money. Members got dashboard-update notes. Public “Glen still answers the Slack” details were sparse.
Price (when they bother showing it)
When doors were open, reviewers and deal archives consistently reported:
- $597 one-time — lifetime access + updates (widely reported for Blueprint / Blueprint 2 era)
- $4,597 — course plus 90 days of 1:1 consulting with Glen / Detailed team; NDA required
- 14-day money-back reported on the $597 tier
- Zero upsells / lifetime updates included (marketing claim)
We are not inventing a 2026 checkout total. Closed-door waitlist pages often hide live pricing. Confirm at open enrollment.
Is $597 expensive for SEO education? Compared to free Ahrefs Academy / YouTube sludge, yes. Compared to $10k “mastermind weekends” where you photograph a whiteboard and a charcuterie board, it’s almost reasonable — if you can execute. The $4,597 consulting tier gets called overpriced even by generally positive reviewers. That tracks. You’re buying calendar, not just videos.
| Item | Detail | Source label |
|---|---|---|
| SEO Blueprint / Blueprint 2 / Blueprint 3 | Advanced SEO course; Superpixels playbook best-documented in Blueprint 2 era; v3 on waitlist / scarce doors | Official: seoblueprint.com · Detailed Q2 notes |
| Reported course price | ~$597 one-time lifetime (when doors open) | Third-party cites (systeme.io, Lifetimo archive, related reviews) — confirm at checkout |
| Reported consulting tier | ~$4,597 course + 90 days 1:1; NDA reported | Third-party reviews — confirm at checkout |
| What’s inside (Blueprint 2 packaging) | ~25–27+ hrs, 100+ HD videos, ~154–175 lessons, 7 blueprints + Superpixels playbook, audits, community | Lifetimo / systeme.io-era breakdowns (counts vary) |
| Guarantee (reported) | 14-day money-back on $597 tier | Third-party — not independently re-verified here |
| Who should skip | Absolute beginners; “passive Google money” hunters; people who need always-on public pricing | This review’s buy/skip section |
| Ahrefs / Detailed | Sept 2025 acquisition; Allsopp joins Ahrefs; deal terms undisclosed | SEJ + detailed.com/detailed-ahrefs |
Price rows are labeled third-party / archive citations because closed-door waitlist pages often hide live checkout totals.
Praise, gaps, and the 2014 ghost
Praise themes: practitioner reputation, not pure guru cosplay. Detailed’s research blog + free extension built real distribution before Ahrefs wrote a check. Advanced positioning is mostly honest. 25–27+ hours is homework, not a 12-minute Canva course. Claimed zero upsells is a cleaner commercial model than infinite OTO ladders, assuming they keep the promise. Waitlist name-drops include people with actual job titles — Tim Soulo (Ahrefs CMO), Ash Read (Buffer) — not stock-photo “Lisa from Ohio.”
I used to write about this guy on a shorter blog years ago and called him an OG whose stuff is usually fire. I’m still in that zip code. Rare. Earned.
Gaps: no prominent Trustpilot page. No high-signal dedicated Reddit megathreads in this research pass. Absence isn’t guilt. It just means you’re relying more on industry reputation and third-party blogs. Independent student outcomes with GSC screenshots beyond testimonials were thin. “Millions of extra visitors” is a sales claim. Hacker News was mixed/negative toward the old ViperChill “get rich teaching get rich” framing (2017). No major 2020s scam allegations against SEO Blueprint itself showed up here.
The 2014 ViperChill controversy is real history. Even if the modern product is solid, people with long memories will Google it. You should too.
Who this is for (and who should bounce)
Buy (or at least join the waitlist) if:
- You already rank something and want competitive / “digital goliath” research frameworks, link tactics, and audit craft — not “what is a meta description”
- You run content sites, affiliate properties, or SEO-led businesses and can spend weeks implementing, not binge-watching
- $597 is a rounding error relative to your content/link budget, and you value practitioner-grade tactics over motivational audio
Skip if:
- You’re an absolute beginner. Learn Google’s docs, crawl a site in Screaming Frog, ship 50 pieces of content first
- You want guaranteed rankings, “AI SEO in 7 days,” or a done-for-you agency in a box
- You’re allergic to waitlists and want transparent always-on pricing + a public refund track record you can screenshot
- Your actual goal is local lead generation for service businesses without becoming a full-time SEO nerd — different game
| SEO Blueprint / Detailed lane | Unemployable | |
|---|---|---|
| Model | Advanced SEO training / competitive research playbooks | Local SEO / rank-and-rent lead sites |
| How you get paid | Your sites, affiliates, or clients after you execute the tactics | Monthly rent from local businesses for leads |
| Traffic | Organic Google for content / affiliate / competitive niches | Organic Google (and Maps when it fits) for local services |
| Price vibe | Scarce enrollment; ~$597 cited when open — often waitlist-hidden | $2,980 lifetime, shown up front |
| Best if you want… | Practitioner-grade SEO homework past the basics | A boring digital asset that can collect rent from local demand |
Verdict?
SEO Blueprint sits in the small club of paid SEO courses that advanced people don’t automatically laugh at. The free Detailed Extension, the research brand, and the September 2025 Ahrefs acquisition are stronger credibility signals than most “I made $47k on ClickBank last Tuesday” stacks.
Reported $597 lifetime pricing for Blueprint 2-era depth was aggressive-but-defensible. The $4,597 consulting tier is a separate bet on mentorship economics. I say go for it if you’re already past the basics. Soft pass if you’re hunting passive Google money or you need a public cart like Target.
What’s unknown (and we’re not inventing): exact Blueprint 3 sticker at next open, full v3 syllabus, independent outcome studies, and how tightly the course stays Glen-driven inside Ahrefs. If those unknowns bother you, stay on the waitlist and demand clarity at checkout.
I’m good.
Q&A
Q: Is SEO Blueprint worth it?
A: For intermediate SEOs who will actually implement 25+ hours of homework? Often yes. For beginners who want “rank overnight”? Absolutely not. Glen’s been saying that out loud. Believe him.
Q: Is Glen Allsopp a scam?
A: I didn’t find major 2020s scam allegations against SEO Blueprint. I did find 2014 ViperChill affiliate/PBN drama and waitlist opacity. “Historical baggage + scarce doors” is not the same stamp as empty-box grift. Don’t flatten those.
Q: How much is SEO Blueprint?
A: Third parties commonly cite $597 lifetime when doors are open, or $4,597 with 90 days 1:1 + NDA. Live price is often hidden on the waitlist. Confirm at checkout. I’m not inventing a 2026 cart total.
Q: What’s Superpixels?
A: Blueprint 2’s flagship playbook — Glen’s “beat Digital Goliaths in Google” research turned into modules. Introduced 2021. Sounds cooler than “competitive SERP analysis,” which is why they named it like a graphics card.
Q: Did Ahrefs really buy Detailed?
A: Yes. September 2025. SEJ + Allsopp’s own post. Extension stays free. Financial terms undisclosed. Glen joined Ahrefs. SEO Blueprint’s public post-deal continuity details were sparse — ask before you assume he still personally grades your homework.
Q: What’s Glen Allsopp’s net worth?
A: Internet fanfiction. Between an undisclosed Ahrefs deal, self-reported 7-figure agency years, and plugin sales, anybody quoting a clean NW is LARPing. I don’t even know what I spent on DoorDash last week.
Q: SEO Blueprint login / free download?
A: Oh, you mean stealing? The course isn’t a pair of Claire’s hoop earrings. Waitlist exists. Pay when doors open, or don’t. The free Detailed SEO Extension is right there if you just wanted a tool.
Q: You mentioned he hates photos. Who hurt him?
A: Google Images, probably. Some people build in public. Glen built in “please enjoy this research PDF instead of my face.” Honestly? Respect. My goblin face could never.
Q: Who shouldn’t bother?
A: Absolute beginners. Passive-income tourists. Anyone who needs always-on public pricing. Anyone whose actual goal is local plumber leads without becoming an SEO nerd — that’s a different animal.
Q: Okay but I still wanna make money from Google without marrying another advanced-course waitlist.
A: Wild concept: build little local websites, rank them, and rent the leads to real businesses. No Superpixels vocabulary quiz. No $4,597 NDA consulting. No “doors open 11 days a year” cosplay.
It’s about as sexy as organizing your sock drawer… which is why filthy SEO goblins like me keep doing it.
If that quieter path sounds less insane than collecting another $597 curriculum, start at unemployable.org.
